Alan Garcia, MAW, LICSW
Alan earned a master’s degree in social work from Salem State University and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University in Boston. He is a certified grief facilitator and was the 2002 annual recipient of the Warren Sullivan Excellence in Thanatology award at Bristol Community College.
He began his career 23 years ago providing critical incident stress debriefings and counseling to first responders and their families throughout the New England states on behalf of the Massachusetts State Police. He has an extensive educational background and experience in trauma-informed treatment and provides therapy to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. He has taught as a professor at Bridgewater State University School of Social Work and is currently a professor at Bristol Community College and Massasoit Community College teaching classes in addiction studies, Family Theory and treatment, Human Service Practice, and counseling techniques. He engages his clients utilizing a Strengths-based, nonjudgmental, empathic, and compassionate clinical approach.
He provides evidence-based person-centered therapy with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in family, individual, and group modalities.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.
