Albert Iannotti Al is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Having worked in a variety of roles and settings throughout his career, Al has had the opportunity to provide social work services and therapy to a diverse array of individuals, children, families, and groups, including military service members. Al specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy and is skilled with utilizing Motivational Interviewing, which encourages and empowers his clients towards self-awareness and self-determination. Al is naturally empathetic and caring, with the ability to actively listen to his clients with the intent to understand, connect, emotionally process, and develop a way forward, with the client and/or family at the center of the process. Al believes true, sustainable change and growth lie within, and that through the therapeutic process, clients will gain the insight, motivation, courage, hopefulness, and ability to make changes in their relationship with themselves and others, leading to increased happiness and success. Prior to working full time as a therapist at BNBA, Al was the Director of Social Work of an acute adult psychiatric inpatient unit within the MA DMH system and was also Chief of Social Work for the facility. Al has also served in the US Army Reserve for 7 years as a Behavioral Health Officer, conducting crisis triage, as well as providing proactive therapeutic support and unit training to Soldiers. Al also served as a Headquarters Company Commander within a Medical Brigade during his time in service. Al attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island in 2004, and he attained his Master of Social Work degree from Rhode Island College in 2010.
